Ingredients You’ll Need:
(Serves 6–8)
For the Pie:
1 refrigerated pie crust (store-bought or homemade), plus an extra for topping
1 lb ground beef
1/2 lb Italian sausage (mild or spicy, depending on preference)
1 cup sliced pepperoni
1 medium onion, diced
1 green bell pepper, diced (optional)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
Salt and black pepper, to taste
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Grease a deep-dish pie pan or a 9-inch springform pan.
2. Prepare the Pie Crust
Roll out one pie crust and carefully press it into the bottom and sides of the prepared pan. Trim any excess dough hanging over the edges.
3. Cook the Meats and Veggies
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and Italian sausage, breaking them into small pieces with a spoon. Cook until browned and fully cooked through.
Drain excess fat from the skillet, leaving about 1 tablespoon for flavor.
Stir in the diced onion, bell pepper (if using), and minced garlic. Cook for 3–4 minutes until softened.
Add the tomato sauce, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine and let the mixture simmer for 5 minutes to meld the flavors.
4. Assemble the Pie
Spread half of the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the bottom of the pie crust.
Spoon the meat mixture over the cheese layer, spreading it out evenly.
Arrange the sliced pepperoni over the meat layer.
Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese and sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the top.
5. Add the Top Crust
Roll out the second pie crust and place it over the filling. Trim and crimp the edges to seal the pie.
Cut a few small slits in the center of the top crust to allow steam to escape during baking.
6. Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 35–40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
If the edges of the crust begin to brown too quickly, cover them loosely with aluminum foil.
7. Serve and Enjoy
Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool for 10 minutes before slicing.
Garnish with fresh parsley and optional red pepper flakes for added color and spice.
Serve hot and enjoy every cheesy, meaty bite!
